A Gilded Obsession: Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Isolde

Monday, February 10, 2014

I love copper. I can't help it. Rich, warm tones with a shot of red are my obsession. I recently picked up this Nars shadow in Isolde, a golden copper duo that is magic on blue or green eyes. I love it because it is so simple, flattering, and toned-down enough to wear every day, while still being interesting enough to not be boring. Paired with brown eyeliner and some mascara, I am good to go for an every day eye look.

Do you have any favorite eyeshadow duos?

Berry Hues for Fall

Thursday, October 10, 2013

I have always loved everything berry-toned: blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, the list goes on and on. Since it's October, I was inspired to pull out some of my favorite berry shades for a quick FOTD.

From left to right: Laura Mercier eyeshadow in Deep Night, Nars blush in Sin, and Burberry eyeshadow in Mulberry.

Laura Mercier's Deep Night is a deep navy color. I smoked it all along the upper lash line with a damp brush (wetting the brush allows more pigment to transfer giving a stronger/intense look). I then added Burberry Mulberry to the outer corner of the upper lash line and to the bottom lash line. Since this look is relatively dramatic, I used Nars blush in Sin (a neutral wine color) to add a natural flush.

What are your favorite berry tones for fall?

Nars California for a Copper Smokey Eye

Monday, July 22, 2013

I love copper. There is something about warm rusty colors that makes my blue eyes pop. I have always been drawn to it. So this morning, I decided to break out my favorite copper colors for a daytime smokey eye.

First I put Rubenesque Paint Pot by Mac all over the lid. This is a peachy shimmer base for shadow to go on top. Then I took a flat synthetic brush and packed Nars California eyeshadow on the lid. A bit of brown eyeliner and mascara and the look was complete! *For more dimension, go into the crease with a warm brown (say Texture or Swiss Chocolate by Mac)

Face: covergirl outlast foundation, nars radiant creamy concealer, nars multiple in maui, bobbi brown shimmer brick bronzer
Eyes: mac eyebrow pencil in spiked, mac rubenesque paint pot, nars california eyeshadow, bobbi brown shimmer ink gel liner, mac teddy eye kohl, loreal voluminous mascara in brown
Lips: korres lip butter in jasmine

Nars Heat Wave and other things

Monday, May 27, 2013

On this memorial day, I find it especially important for us to think of others. Especially those serving our country. They keep our country free and resemble Jesus in their sacrifice. I look up to all those serving our country for they are worthy of our respect.

Nars Heat Wave lipstick makes a wonderful addition to a blah makeup look. When inspiration has failed to strike, go as Jenna Lyons (J Crew head hauncho) says: "just add an orangey-red lip". And if it is good enough for Jenna, it is good enough for me.

I hope you are having a wonderful/restful holiday!
